8D-Report Detail View

The detail view of an 8D report gives you all information on a nonconformity at a glance: problem description, team, associated data records as well as immediate, corrective and preventive measures including the root cause(s). This is where you check off completed tasks, document the progress and upload evidence.

Navigation

To open the detail view of an 8D report, follow this path:

Navigation bar → QM → 8D reports → Click on the number of the desired 8D report

If required, use the search function to find a specific 8D report quickly and precisely.

Note: The exact names of the menu items may vary depending on the configuration of your LDB. Only areas that contain data or are enabled for you are displayed.

Overview

The detail view clearly summarizes all essential information of an 8D report. It allows you to:

  • View the master data (number, creator, date, associated data records and team for problem solution)
  • View the problem description as well as the measures and the root cause(s)
  • Check off completed tasks such as immediate, corrective and preventive measures
  • Add notes and upload files, e.g. test reports or quotations
  • Create a PDF of the 8D report
  • Edit the 8D report

Note: All texts highlighted in blue are clickable links to the respective data types. Some areas and functions are always available, others depend on your permissions and the configuration of your LDB. The names may also depend on the configuration.

Header area

In the header area, you see the number of the 8D report (e.g. 8D report 8D260001).

  • Navigation path: The link 8D reports above the number takes you back to the overview. Next to it, the category of the 8D report is displayed as a colored tag (e.g. Quality).
  • Button PDF: Creates a PDF of the 8D report, e.g. for forwarding or archiving.
  • Button Edit 8D report: The orange button opens the edit form of the 8D report. Only displayed with the appropriate permission.

Tab menu

The tab menu is located below the header area. Use the tabs to switch between the data areas belonging to the 8D report. The small number (badge) on a tab shows the number of existing entries (e.g. Files 1).

Tab Description
Notes Shows all notes and uploaded files of the 8D report in chronological order. This is where you add new notes.
Files Shows all files uploaded to the 8D report. This is where you can upload further files. Uploading is only possible with the appropriate permission.

Content area of the selected tab

The content area shows the content of the selected tab. The active tab is highlighted.

Content area tab Notes:

  • Enter your note in the text field. Use the toolbar to format the text, e.g. with headings, bold text, lists, tables or links. Click the eye icon to switch to the preview.
  • Add files to the text field via drag and drop or copy and paste.
  • Click Template to insert a predefined text module.
  • If required, assign Tags and a Category to the note. Click the pencil icon next to the Category field to edit the available categories.
  • Click Additional information to display further input fields.
  • Click Add note to save the note.
  • All notes and uploaded files are displayed chronologically below the input area, each with category, time and author. Click the pencil icon to edit an entry, or click Write a comment to add a comment.

Content area tab Files:

  • Upload files via drag and drop or the file selection dialog, e.g. test reports, quotations or photos as evidence.
  • Uploaded files also appear as an entry File added in the Notes tab.

Our recommendation: Upload evidence such as test reports or manufacturer letters directly to the 8D report. This way, the implementation of the measures can be traced at any time during audits.

To the right of the content area, the master data of the 8D report and – depending on the configuration and existing data – additional areas are displayed.
