Manage/Create/Edit/Delete Batches

For each material, any number of batches can be recorded. Batches have an expiration date and are gradually used up and reordered over time.

By managing the batches in the laboratory database, you always know how many valid batches of a specific material are available, which batch you can use for the next analysis, and when new batches need to be reordered.

You can find the batch overview in the respective material detail view. More about materials can be found at Create/edit/delete material.

In this batch overview, all batches of the respective material are visible. At a glance, you can see the status of each batch, its expiration date, as well as the quantity and remaining quantity. The remaining quantity is calculated based on the total amount, the number of uses in samples, and the quantity per sample derived from the material.

You can also immediately see in which samples each batch was used, ensuring full traceability. More information can be found at Linking materials with parameters.

Create and edit batch
Via you can create new batches. Click on next to the name of a batch to edit an existing one.

Here you can add master data for the respective batch, such as:

  • Batch No.: Number of the batch, usually provided by the manufacturer.
  • Manufacturer: Manufacturer of this batch
  • Date: When the material arrived at the lab
  • Valid till: End date of usage. After this date, the batch can no longer be selected for a linked parameter. It will be marked as expired.
  • Amount: Amount of this batch using the unit specified for this material
  • Status: The status of this batch. You can define possible statuses yourself, more information under Status management.
  • Additionally, a file (e.g., a certificate) can be uploaded on the right side for each batch. Additional master data fields can be added upon request. Please contact your lab database administrator.

Clicking will now display this batch in the material management view.

    Delete batch
Batches that have not yet been used can be deleted. To do this, edit the respective batch and click delete.
