With Passkey, access to the website is made effortless: Passkeys allow users to authenticate without having to provide a username, password, or an additional authentication factor. They can unlock it by entering a PIN, using fingerprint, or Face ID. Biometric verification is done exclusively locally.
Attention:
- Passkey is currently supported only by the following web browsers: Safari (version 16 or higher), Chrome (version 109 or higher), Firefox (version 122 or higher), and Edge (version 109 or higher)
- Additionally, the following requirements must be met: Laptop or computer with Windows 10 or higher, macOS Ventura, or ChromeOS 109
Passkey via Smartphone or Tablet
You can create a Passkey in two different ways:
- During login, you can add a device by clicking the Use Passkey button.
- In your account, go to "Edit My Account" and click on the Add Passkey button.
- A QR code will appear, which you need to scan with the camera of your chosen device.
- On your computer, a message will appear instructing you to follow the instructions on your smartphone or tablet.
- On your chosen device, click the link, creating a link to your Google account/Apple Account/etc and storing the Passkey in your Google account/Apple Account/etc.
- A message will then appear on your computer, prompting you to assign a name to your authenticated device.
- For the next login, simply click on the "Email oder Kurzzeichen" field, and the option to Passkey verwenden will immediately appear.
Passkey via a USB security key
You can also utilize a USB security key such as a
YubiKey for logging in. Follow these steps:
- In your account, navigate to: Navigation Bar LDB Shortcuts Edit My Account Add Passkey.
- Select Add another device.
- Insert the YubiKey into your device and touch it when the corresponding message appears.
- Set a PIN for the YubiKey.
- Provide a name for the registration of the YubiKey.
- You can now choose the YubiKey under Passkey verwenden during the next login.
