Structure of the Test Form

The form is divided into several input areas:

Connection Type

Type: A dropdown menu for selecting between SFTP and FTP. In the example shown, SFTP is selected. Additionally, the note "For FTP, Passive Mode must be activated" is displayed. This is an important technical note for FTP connections, as Passive Mode is required for most modern network configurations.

Server Configuration

Address: The input field for the server address of the SFTP/FTP server. In the example, "ftp.example.com" is entered. Both domain names and IP addresses can be used here.

Port: The input field for the port number. The default value "22" is correctly set for SFTP (FTP would typically use Port 21). This port can be adjusted depending on the server configuration.

Authentication

Username: The field for the username to log in to the server. In the example, "max" is entered.

Password: For security reasons, the password field is masked and only displays asterisks (****), even if a password has been entered.

Directory Path

Path: An input field for the target directory on the server. This field defines which directory the files for import should be searched in. The note explains: "A file will be temporarily transferred to this directory and then deleted." This means that during the test, a sample file is created to verify functionality.

Purpose of the Test

The connection test serves to:

• Check the server's accessibility
• Validate the login credentials
• Test the permission to write to the specified directory
• Identify potential configuration errors before productive use
