Material management is part of the QM module in the laboratory database or part of the QM database.
Create and Edit Materials
Navigate to your laboratory database: Navigation bar → QM → Materials.
In the material management view, you can add new materials using the button .
To edit an existing material, use the icon next to the respective material to directly access the edit view.
Alternatively, navigate to the material's detail view and select Edit Material.
In the edit view, you can enter the material details:
Name (Required): The name of the material.
Category: Customizable category of the material. Instructions for creating/editing categories can be found at LINK_TO_PAGE=186.
Tags: One or more tags for subcategorization.
Responsible (Required): Selection from LDB accounts specifying who is responsible for the material.
Employee: Optional deputy responsible.
Manufacturer: Can be selected from customers in the supplier/manufacturer category. Details on adding customers can be found at LINK_TO_PAGE=1.
Manufacturer Location: Default manufacturer location of the material, adjustable per batch.
Location: Default storage location of the material.
Unit: The unit of the material (e.g., kg, mL, pieces).
Amount: Standard batch size, modifiable per batch.
Quantity per Sample: A factor to calculate how much of a batch remains available after being used in samples.
Example: A full batch contains 100 mL and the factor = 10. After use in 8 samples, 80% of the batch is consumed.

Equipment category: If selected, an inspection tool of this category can be assigned to batches of this material.
Status:
For created materials: Batches can be added and used.
For completed materials: No new batches can be added, but existing ones can still be used.
For locked materials: No new batches can be added, and existing batches can no longer be used.
Additional Master Data Fields: Additional fields can be added upon request. Contact your laboratory database administrator. A full overview of configurable master data options can be found at LINK_TO_PAGE=407.
On the right, you can upload files/documents related to the material. Batch-specific certificates can be uploaded in the batch section. See instructions at LINK_TO_PAGE=191.
Additionally, you can configure who can view the respective material.
Delete Material
If no batches have been added to a material, it can be deleted. Navigate to the edit view of the material and select Delete Material.
