IT requirements for the Labordatenbank LIMS: Details on browser compatibility, security standards and IT collaboration.
The Labordatenbank is a web-based LIMS system that is operated as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) in the AWS Cloud in Frankfurt. Access is via a web browser, which means that the full range of functions is available on any computer (Windows, macOS, Linux), tablet or smartphone.
System requirements
- Browser: Current version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge oder Safari.
- Operating system: Windows 10/11, macOS, Linux, Android oder iOS.
Network requirements
- Internet connection: Broadband connection with at least 10 Mbit/s (symmetrical recommended).
Cooperation with your IT
We ask for cooperation with your IT department on the following points:
- Single sign-on (SSO) and authentication:
- Provision of SSO with an OAuth 2.0-compatible procedure.
- Alternatively, multi-factor authentication (MFA) via passkey or time-based two-factor authentication (2FA) via password manager or key is possible.
- E-mail dispatch:
- Provision of a dedicated e-mail account (e.g. lab@testlab.com) including SMTP access data.
- Note: For Microsoft Outlook we recommend SMTP authentication with OAuth 2.0.
- Additional Backup:
- If desired, please provide an SFTP drive for additional local data backup.
Safety recommendations
- Regular updating of the operating system and all software components used.
- Use of virus protection and intrusion detection systems.
- Regular training, sensitize employees (social engineering!)
- Least privileges: Check whether users have exactly the access rights they need or no longer need
