Certificate

Certificates are essential for ensuring the authenticity, integrity, and confidentiality of documents and information by confirming their origin and ensuring they are unchanged and from authorized sources.

There is a User Call on this topic.

To add certificates, click on: Navigation Bar Settings Manage Signatures

According to European Signature Standards

You have the option to sign PDF documents such as offers and invoices in the Labordatenbank according to the PAdES standard (PDF Advanced Electronic Signatures). This way, the electronic signature complies with the extended requirements of the European Union according to ETSI EN 319 142 of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute.

Acquire a Certificate

If you do not yet have a certificate, you can acquire one from one of the signature providers listed below for your country: European Union Trust List (EUTL) or Adobe Approved Trust List (AATL).

For example: Germany: D-Trust-Advanced Enterprise ID, Austria: Globaltrust-ADVANCED SEAL.

The User Call summarizes the most important information on ordering a certificate, using the example of D-Trust-Advanced Enterprise ID (corporate signature). The processing time is usually two to three days.

Info: Electronic signatures with a certificate can be activated as part of the Labordatenbank Enterprise Cloud and require a corresponding certificate for your company.

Store Signature Certificates

You select the appropriate certificate type, upload the certificate and the certificate key, and enter the certificate password (if available). The Labordatenbank currently supports PEM, P12, and PKCS#12 certificates. A certificate key as a file only needs to be uploaded for PEM and PKCS#12 certificate types; for P12 certificates, this is not required.

It should be noted that signature certificates can only be stored for your own account and not for another person's account.

Important: Certificate keys and passwords are encrypted and stored with your account password. If the account password is lost, they cannot be retrieved. Therefore, you should always keep the original documents.

Validate Signature

The signed PDF documents can be validated online, among other ways, using the EU Digital Signature Service (see example image).
