To import your data into the laboratory database via an interface, matching settings between the laboratory database and the CSV file to be imported are necessary. You can set these settings under Create import interface.

Next, you provide the laboratory database with the properties of your file and store a sample file.

This sample file has 4 attributes (categories) in the attribute row and 2 data records, each with 4 measured data points. All measured data/values have a specific attribute to which they are assigned. The measured data 25.0 and 27.3 are assigned to the Chloride attribute. Attributes and measured data are data fields (columns) that can be imported into the laboratory database. A data field is the smallest unit of a data record. The individual data fields of a data record are delimited by separators. (see also Data structure / Export file format under Import results from measuring instruments)

According to the sample file, a semicolon is selected as the delimiter. Other delimiters include comma, colon, tab, or space.
To check if your data fields are delimited by separators, you can open the CSV file in a text editor.
The character set is Latin-1.
The attribute row is positioned in the 1st row of the sample file.
To link the data fields of your file with the laboratory database settings, provide a sample CSV file by selecting Choose File.
Furthermore, you must specify the Mode for the import. The default setting is update. Update checks if the parameter already exists; if so, it is overwritten. Otherwise, the parameter is created. Other variants include "insert", "ignore", "ignore_without_insert", "update_without_insert". Details are directly stated in the Create Interface mask.
In the Instructions field, specifications, special rules, and descriptions for handling the interface can be recorded.
By pressing the Save button at the bottom of the page, your settings will be applied, and you will automatically proceed to the import mapping.
In Import Mapping, you can link the data fields of your sample file with the laboratory database settings by defining the targets and properties of your attributes and measured data.

Now you can Import results from measuring instruments.
