Functions of Material Management

Accredited and certified laboratories place the highest demands on the consumables used in their analyses. On the one hand, strict documentation requirements must be met: it must be traceable which batch of a material was used for which samples and analyses. On the other hand, high-quality, sometimes hard-to-procure materials are used, and their consumption and reordering must be carefully monitored to ensure economic efficiency.
Material management is part of the QM module within the Labordatenbank or the QM database.
  • Material Management: Create, approve, and centrally manage materials.
  • Batch Management: Flexibly add new batches to materials and, if needed, associate them with certificates.
  • Blocking Functions: Automatically block expired or depleted batches.
  • Batch Inspection: Enable inspection of each batch with a transparent approval process, including documentation of all inspection steps.
  • Parameter Assignment: Assign materials to specific analytical parameters.
  • Traceability: Ensure complete documentation of which batch was used in each sample and analysis.
  • Sample Integration: Select and assign valid batches directly within the sample view.
  • Direct Display: Clearly display used batches for each sample.
  • Inventory Calculation: Automatically determine the current stock level of each batch.
  • Reorder Management: Automated reminders for timely reordering, based on inventory levels and expiration dates.

These features ensure precise, transparent, and efficient management of consumables—making a crucial contribution to quality assurance in laboratories.
