Practical example: Import GC/MS measurement values to your LIMS system

In the following practical example, we show you how to connect common MS GC/MS analysis devices (gas chromatography/mass spectrometry) e.g. from Thermo Fisher directly to your LIMS via interface and automatically import measurement values.

Every analysis device that generates an export file with measurement values can be connected to Labordatenbank. To connect your existing GC/MS analysis device to your Labordatenbank LIMS, you need an export file and access to the Labordatenbank LIMS import interfaces. You can generate the export file directly in the GC/MS. The Labordatenbank import interfaces can be found under Menu bar -> Samples -> Import Interfaces.

To connect your GC/MS, perform the following six steps:

  1. First, review the export file. In the following
    In Excel:

In a text editor:

The following points are noteworthy:

  • There is no sample number for automatic assignment
  • The attribute row is in row 8
  • TabStop is used as a delimiter
  • Not all rows have a result
  • For not all listed parameters, a peak / concentration was determined by the GC
  1. Create a new import interface.
Specify the properties of the file to be processed

  2. Upload the file as a sample file

  3. In the import mapping, define which information from the file is assigned to which location in the Labordatenbank

  4. Upload the measurement file of your GC for a sample

  5. Check the import
