LDB implementation

LDB implementation is divided into subject areas. Specific modules are brought into operation according to a proven project plan agreed with you in detail.

Frequently asked questions about LIMS implementation

A typical LDB implementation for an accredited environmental laboratory with 15 employees requires 5–6 months for implementation itself, with workshops of around 2 hours held every two weeks. Including preparation, follow-up, trial operation and a phased go-live, the total is 6–9 months.
A project can start 2 weeks after the order is placed. We recommend planning the start carefully, taking internal deadlines such as upcoming audits into account. For audit deadlines, such as re-accreditation by 1 December, the project should start sufficiently early.
We recommend 1–2 dedicated key users, each available for 5–8 hours per week throughout the project, typically around 6 months.
Yes, we expressly recommend this approach, and many laboratories start this way. A typical sequence is parameters → limits → reports → invoices, followed later by further departments or the QM module, often after successfully completing an audit to reduce complexity.
We provide two experienced project managers, including a deputy, who support you before, during and after LDB implementation. Our entire team consists of biologists, chemists and microbiologists with hands-on laboratory and quality management experience.
Ideally, choose 1–2 key users with a laboratory background, an affinity for technology and the authority to make decisions.
Incomplete requirements are normal. We account for this from the start and schedule contingency workshops to address them.
Good preparation saves project time. Your project managers send you a checklist of the required documents well before the project starts. These include your preferred numbering formats, parameter lists, equipment lists, price lists and other structured master data, such as customers, objects and sampling locations.
LDB is a fully SaaS-based LIMS that you use through your browser. We operate it for you in certified data centres at AWS Frankfurt, with EU data residency and 3 availability zones, so you do not need your own IT resources. One-off collaboration with your IT department is required for optional integration with your identity management system (SSO/MFA, such as Microsoft Entra), interfaces and additional local backups.
