LDB includes comprehensive artificial intelligence (AI) integration, available throughout the LIMS with leading AI models.

Flexibility through model choice

LDB integrates leading large language models (LLMs): Gemini from Google, ChatGPT from OpenAI, Claude from Anthropic and European provider Mistral.

This multi-LLM approach allows new models to be added continuously, providing the best model for each use case.

Full transparency means that you can decide which AI model to use at any time.

Data protection when choosing a model

LDB only uses AI models with clear data protection and usage agreements:

  • No training of AI models using data from LDB
  • Data encryption at rest and in transit
  • ISO 27001 certification or SOC 2 Type II compliance

Questions about LIMS and artificial intelligence (AI):

We have integrated all frontier LLMs into LDB. You can choose from Google (Gemini models), OpenAI (GPT models), Anthropic (Claude models) and Mistral AI (a European provider). You can also use your own model. LDB supports AWS Bedrock in the EU, Azure OpenAI in the EU, OpenRouter, EUrouter and Vercel AI Gateway.
In the system settings, you specify which of the providers and models listed above are available in your LDB instance. Your staff can therefore use only the models you approve, for example only the most capable or the most affordable models. AI usage is disabled by default.
Yes, each staff member has individual access rights. Under System settings → Access rights → AI integration, you can configure these permissions for each person.
LDB only uses AI models with clear data protection and usage agreements:

We follow these principles when using artificial intelligence:
  • Transparency & control
    You can always see which information is sent to the AI with your request. Checkboxes let you control which data are included and which AI model is used.
  • Access rights
    LDB access rights are automatically taken into account when assembling context in the AI Explorer.
  • Persistent chats
    Each AI chat is saved directly with its associated record and can be continued seamlessly at any time.
Your data cannot be used for training. This is stipulated in every contract with our AI providers.
The data transmitted are used solely to answer the respective request, and are not used to improve or train models. This is documented in our General Data Security Guidelines (ADSR).
LDB LIMS GmbH, based in Berlin in the EU, is your direct contracting party and holds the contracts with the AI providers. We act as the data processor, and the AI providers act as subprocessors.
Google (Gemini): Google Ireland Limited, EU (Ireland); OpenAI (GPT): OpenAI OpCo LLC, USA (with EU data centres); Anthropic (Claude): Anthropic PBC, USA (with EU processing regions); Mistral AI: Mistral AI, EU (France).
For most in-house AI systems, the connection is not substantially different from that used for the frontier models already integrated. In a meeting with you, we check whether LDB can connect to and authenticate with your AI.
AI import validation, introduced in the Spring Release 2026, uses two independent AI models for imports. Differences between their responses are highlighted so that you can intervene where necessary.

We offer free AI onboarding sessions several times a month covering every LDB AI module. Step by step, we activate LDB’s AI functions with you, configure access rights and get started with practical examples.
