The LDB Cloud offers the following advantages compared to an on-premise installation:

LDB Cloud is designed so that all components are redundantly distributed across two independent availability zones, significantly reducing the probability of a LDB failure.
The LDB Cloud runs in Amazon AWS data centers in Frankfurt and is parallel distributed across the availability zones eu-central-1a and eu-central-1b (availability zones are distinct locations designed to be isolated from failures in other availability zones). The LDB is designed to withstand the failure of an availability zone and remain available.
The LDB Cloud is exclusively accessible via an encrypted connection (HTTPS) (on-premise access often occurs only via HTTP).
With the LDB Cloud, your employees can access LDB and use its full range of functions from the field or from home via smartphone, tablet, or notebook. This means all data is available even during a customer visit, and a new order or sample collection can be entered directly on-site. If the internet connection is interrupted during on-site sampling, the integrated offline mask can also be used for data entry.

As additional protection for user login, there is now the option of 2FA based on the Time-based One-time Password (TOTP) method (any TOTP app of your choice can be used for this). 2FA can be activated individually for each user.
With the LDB Cloud, you can activate a customer zone in LDB if required and integrate it into your existing homepage. The customer zone allows your customers access to all relevant information regarding commissioned analyses and the ability to retrieve approved reports directly.

The LDB Cloud has its own database server with second-by-second incremental data backup. In addition, a full backup is created daily and kept for one week along with the incremental backups. After one week, one full backup per week is kept for an unlimited duration. We use the S3 storage system for this, which is designed for 99.999999999 percent data durability.
Even with the LDB Cloud, you have full access to your data and can download a complete database backup at any time at the push of a button.
See: Backup / Data protection
By using multiple, parallel running servers, the latest server processors, and automatic scaling of server resources, LDB in the LDB Cloud runs consistently fast, even with variable load during peak times.
The LDB Cloud is hosted in Europe's most modern data center (AWS Frankfurt), which meets all required compliance standards (PCI DSS Level 1, ISO 27001, FISMA Moderate, FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 1, SOC 2).

By operating LDB in the Cloud, you save on the provision, operation, and ongoing maintenance of an on-premise server system.
