The functions for managing stations in the LDB are described below.

Overview

The systematic station configuration enables efficient sample tracking and optimized laboratory workflows with full traceability in your LDB. A station represents a physical storage or processing location in the lab (e.g. a freezer, a room or a storage box) and is used for checking samples in and out – also via QR code scanning.

The station enables:

• the assignment and tracking of samples to a defined storage or processing location.
• checked-in samples to be listed chronologically
• the linking to a piece of test equipment or laboratory device from the test equipment management.
• the quick checking in and out of samples via QR code scanning.
• the printing of labels for stations.
• optionally, a grid-based position management (rows x columns).

Stations can be flexibly adapted to different use cases and are displayed differently depending on the configuration:

• Simple station (list): Checked-in samples are listed chronologically - e.g. a freezer or a room with a refrigerator
• Station with grid (box): Samples are assigned to fixed positions in a rows-x-columns grid – e.g. a cryobox.
• Storage station: Checked-in entries remain permanently stored in this station, even if an entry is additionally checked into another station – ideal for aliquots, archives or long-term storage.

Description of the station overview

The stations are displayed as tiles. The following table describes the elements of a station tile.

Note: All texts highlighted in blue in the overview are clickable links to the respective data types (station, sample, test equipment). Some elements are always present, others are configuration-dependent.

Functions

Filter by category

• Click the Categories button below the menu heading in the left section of the page to filter the stations by category.
• Select all to display all stations, or a single category to view only its stations.
• The available categories are configuration-dependent.

Create new station

• Click the ＋ Add station button below the menu heading in the left section of the page and enter the data for the station.

Edit existing station

Change the data of an already recorded station via the editing function.

• Click the pencil icon at the top right of the respective station tile.
• Alternatively: Click the station name highlighted in blue and then, in the detail view, the button for editing.

Display station and check-ins

• Click the station name highlighted in blue to open the detail view of the station.
• Via the linked sample numbers and the assigned test equipment, you can navigate directly to the respective records.

Print labels for stations

Generate labels for one or more stations.

• Select the desired stations at the bottom of the overview via the checkboxes.
• Click the Print labels button to generate labels for the selected stations.

Display of the checked-in samples

Within a station, the checked-in samples are displayed grouped chronologically by check-in date (with date separators). For stations with a grid (box), the display is instead position-based in the rows-columns grid.
