Frequently asked questions about the SHAPTH interface in Labordatenbank LIMS:

By 1 January 2027 at the latest. Some federal states are starting earlier – your local health authority can tell you which date applies to you. You should therefore prepare for the transition well in advance.
XWasser is the nationwide data standard for drinking water analysis data, while SHAPTH is the platform used to transmit it. For you, the target format changes, but the way you work in the laboratory does not.
These state-specific formats are being replaced by SHAPTH and XWasser and can no longer be used for data subject to mandatory reporting from the 2027 reporting year. Some mandatory SHAPTH fields can be transferred from the existing interface through a reconciliation import.
Through the SHAPTH environment; the live environment uses the ELSTER business account. Registration and setup should be planned well in advance.
Not at present. Test submissions should be coordinated with the operator and the health authority. You can also create test reports manually in SHAPTH to familiarise yourself with the process.
For your own laboratory: SHAPTH ID, client ID and client secret. These are stored in Labordatenbank and used to authenticate submissions.
No. For external laboratories, the name, SHAPTH ID and federal state are generally sufficient.
Keep them secure and enter them correctly in Labordatenbank. Define who is responsible internally for maintaining and renewing them.
No, customers are not separate SHAPTH objects. Their name and address are transmitted with the test report and must be maintained correctly in Labordatenbank.
Not necessarily. Depending on the process, the operator either has a SHAPTH ID or provides the laboratory with the necessary master data.
As a contact or “on behalf of the operator”. We will agree on the appropriate contact type with you during the workshop.
The operator or health authority. The laboratory coordinates the IDs with those responsible and incorporates them into its own master data.
In some cases, submissions are possible without them. For clear, permanent identification, the IDs should be used as soon as they are available.
Yes, particularly for existing datasets. The ID strategy should be coordinated with the operator and, where appropriate, the health authority to avoid duplicates.
As customers or contacts, rather than employees. Maintain complete contact details and the contact type; a dedicated UUID helps ensure unambiguous identification.
Not at present. An internal system UUID is sufficient for unique identification.
Generally not – SHAPTH fields can be integrated into existing templates. Which fields are required depends on your configuration and reporting logic.
The interface configuration determines this: Only samples subject to mandatory reporting, or all relevant samples in a test report. We check this setting together before going live.
SHAPTH-relevant fields are added to Labordatenbank through a template. We then review existing fields and duplicates and combine them into a common mapping.
An assessment of the test result is mandatory in SHAPTH. For this, a target value must be stored in the specifications for every possible assessment option. If one is missing, the submission remains incomplete. This is the most common stumbling block.
No. Data is transmitted as a structured XML message; we set up the analysis and field mapping in the interface configuration. We clarify whether custom adjustments are required during the onboarding workshop.
Usually one joint workshop: Reconciling master data, importing SHAPTH fields and configuring submissions. Users already working with TEIS, Octoware or SEBAM can transfer some mandatory fields through a reconciliation import.
Labordatenbank is updated quarterly, and SHAPTH approximately every six months. We check compatibility between versions using the information provided for each release.
Not currently – SHAPTH covers drinking water only. Extensions are technically possible but have not been implemented.
